Room 8 FUN!

Guest Post by Drew and Alliyah

Today in science the year 6’s in room 8 got to do a lot of fun things due to people being at choir so there were only 10 people.

IMG_1441The first thing the yr 6’s created was a rocket. The body of the rocket is made out of an M&M candy tube, at the top it has a paper cone and in the bottom it has silver cardboard fins to it steer. Inside it we put half full of water and 1/4 of an alka-seltzer tablet. Then we put the lid back of and shook it up. Inside the tube the tablet and water were reacting to make carbon dioxide gas. As  more gas was made, the pressure inside the tube rose until the lid pops off and the rockets flew up into the air.  The rockets were a success while some did not manage to fly as high.

After this we watched a YouTube clip about a man that made an electrical circuit using graphite from a pencils lead. We decided to try making our own PAPER CIRCUITS. We got the basic pencil circuit to light up the LED easily but found it challenging to make the torch work. We persevered until we got them to work.

Check out the video below to watch the Paper Circuits clip.
