The year ones have been busy studying some of the different animals found in the schoolyard. Last week they observed and learnt about snails. We discovered many new things, like:
- A snail’s body is called a ‘foot’.
- Snails have four ‘tentacles’, two with eyes on them and two to help them feel.
- Snails can not see very well.
- Snails have a shell to protect them from predators.
- Snails can also make foam to deter predators.
- Snails can live on land or in water.
- Snails are hermaphrodites .
- Snails lay small white eggs.
- Most snails eat plants.
- Snails makeĀ mucus to help them move.
- When the weather is hot and dry, snails hibernate.
